The Ruetgers-Nease Story

While we are quick to confirm that it's more meaningful to focus on the future than the past, we feel it's important to explain how Ruetgers-Nease became a diversified, specialty chemical manufacturer.

Founded in 1951 as Pedlow-Nease Company and later known as the Nease Chemical Company, our firm enjoyed early growth through its quality work in custom chemical manufacturing. Now with more than 40 years of experience, Ruetgers-Nease has earned its place among the very best in custom synthesis, and even today some of our customers for these services still think of us only as a custom manufacturing specialist.

In 1958, our company began another specialty business: hydrotope manufacturing at our new plant in Cincinnati, Ohio. We entered this field in response to the surge in demand within the detergent industry for these compositions. Today, our list of satisfied customers includes many detergent industry giants. For more than 30 years, we have offered these customers a complete line of products an have built a specialist reputation based on quality, reliability and superior service.

Since 1977, we have been affiliated with Rütgerswerke AG, a global organization operating more than thirty-five plants in Europe and North America. A stable and well-financed corporation, Rütgerswerke AG employs 15,000 workers worldwide, including more than 200 in the U.S. Ruetegers-Nease sites: our headquarters and plant in State College, Pennsylvania and plants in Augusta, Georgia and Ross, Ohio (near Cincinnati).

Ruetgers-Nease also operates a warehouse and service center for a line of fine chemicals and organic intermediates produced in Germany by the Weyl division and sold in the United States. Principal markets for these imports include the pharmaceutical, personal care, pigment, polymer, and graphic industries.

We have built a sound business base over time and feel we are ready to meet the challenges of tomorrow. By focusing on our customer's changing needs and requirements in both our line of products and custom service business and by properly allocating our attention and resources to these priorities, we will continue to prosper and grow with those companies that have placed their confidence in us.
